Gatorland
While it’s just a tourist destination for some, for others it’s a part of Orlando’s heritage. Gatorland is one of the oldest attractions in the Central Florida Orlando area. Originally set up as a roadside type attraction in the 1950’s, it has definitely evolved over the years while still keeping the non commercialized family-style charm. It’s a great place for kids, family, and friends. It is also one of the best displays of Florida wildlife where you can walk on a boardwalk through a swamp forest setting, watch gator wrestling shows, and see hundreds of alligators up close and personal. Now when we say up close, we’re not kidding. You can stand practically right next to a 10 foot alligator with nothing between you but a see-thru wall. You can also walk along around the park and see alligators swimming freely in the water while throwing them stuff to eat. It’s a great place to venture out to if you want to see something you really can’t find many other places. And if you have out of town guests that have already been through the Disney World and Universal Studios circuit, this will give them something to tell their friends about.
