Central Florida Railroad Museum

The Central Florida Railroad Museum is a great stop for local history and railroad enthusiasts. Located right off the main drag of Plant Street in Winter Garden, its a great stop to make after viewing the local Heritage Museum or after checking out the local shops and restaurants in downtown Winter Garden area. The museum is a lot of fun for both kids and adults. You’ll find it on on Boyd Street, a block away from Plant Street and its located in a historic Gulf Railroad depot from the early 1900’s. Once you go inside however, that’s where the fun really begins. It almost looks like a large toy room and antique collection in your grandparents’ upstairs attic. You can see large collections railroad memorabilia from local the area and from around the state. There’s tons of photographs, artifacts, and railroad equipment plastered all over the place for visitors to check and explore. The museum is FREE to visitors, so hopefully the Orlando Tourism Board won’t find out. You can also see old collections of china dishes and silverware, a 1938 Fairmont motor car, a velocipede hand car and the former Clinchfield Railroad caboose, #1073 at the museum as well. If you’re visiting this museum you’ll probably want to check out the Winter Garden Heritage Museum nearby as well along with all of the shops and restaurants along Plant Street.
