Alexander Springs Recreational Area

Alexander Springs is home to one of Mother Nature’s best swimming areas in Central Florida. Located in Lake County which is directly west of Orlando, its within a short driving distance from Orlando, around 30 minutes to an hour and a half from Orlando depending on where your starting place is. Alexander Springs is known for their scuba diving and the spring basin is almost 300 feet wide and for the most part the springs don’t go deeper than 27 feet. Alexander Springs offers a lot of places to explore above and under the water.

There is even a small cavern to check out during your scuba dive. The Springs is extremely popular with divers and they can from all over the world to scuba dive there. The Unlock Orlando Marine Biology Squad figures that the biggest reason that scuba diving is popular with divers in this area is due to the fact that there are no large sea creatures that will eat them in the Springs. As most divers will tell you………that’s always a huge plus! The water is 72 degrees year round, perfect for those extremely humid summer days or perfect for Orlando’s snowbirds where 72 degrees in the winter to them feels like venturing into a hot tub. It’s also a great place to go camping, hiking, and you can go bicycle riding on the 22-mile Paisley Woods Bicycle Trail nearby.
