Before Turkish Cuisine became popular and all the rage in the Orlando area, there was pretty much one Turkish restaurant that opened the floodgates to this trendy cuisine. When it first opened on Park Avenue in Winter Park in 2005, locals probably were not sure what to think about the place. What is Turkish food? Is it something that we’ll eat? Some probably wondered if it was a concept that would work. After Bosphorous opened however, it was a different story, and Orlando locals came to eat in herds again and again. Turkish cuisine is touted in many parts of the world as one of the best, incorporating elements from both the Mediterranean and the Mid East. The decor is more of a formal decor inside and there is also a bar area, which helps the restaurant fit in its Park Avenue environment. If you’re looking for food that is more unique and not your typical burger or pasta dish, Bosphorous is a great option. If you’re struggling to figure out what you might want to eat, try the Lahmacun which is sometimes call Turkish Style Pizza, having the Karisik Meze (mixed appetizers) Lavas (Flat Bread) is also a great plan if you don’t know what to get. If the weather is nice, you might want to sit outside and enjoy people watching as the entire Park Avenue community passes by, wondering if they themselves should grab a seat and get something to eat.
